Ancestrify stands on decades of openly published research and freely given software. This page names everyone whose work reaches you in a report, a map or a downloaded video, and the licence it reaches you under. Where a dataset or a tool asks to be cited, the citation is here in full.
Maps and imagery
The interactive atlas, the Haplo Mapper and the globe in every ancestry video are drawn from open map data and public-domain satellite imagery.
The underlying map data (coastlines, borders, rivers, place names) for the Light and Dark basemaps.

Blue Marble imagery. The BlueMarble_NextGeneration layer is the Satellite basemap; BlueMarble_ShadedRelief_Bathymetry is the globe in the ancestry videos and its close-up detail tiles.

Reference data
Every ancient individual, population average and haplogroup in your report comes from published research datasets.

Community Global25 reference averages
The population averages the free G25 Proximity Heatmap scores your coordinates against: the Moriopoulos collection, a community-compiled Global25 dataset of present-day population averages built from public DNA studies. Some entries are modelled estimates rather than genotyped samples.
The Global25 coordinate system. Global25 is an independent service; we analyse the coordinates you supply and are not affiliated with it.
Analysis software
The statistics in your report are produced by published, peer-reviewed tools rather than anything we invented.
Runs qpAdm, qpWave, qpGraph and the f-statistics in the Lab's AdmixTools 2 tool.
