traits to explore
Small details. A personal story.
Start with appearance, the senses and everyday biology, the details you already recognise, then follow your curiosity.
The little details that make you recognisable.
Eye pigmentation
A published marker association with eye pigmentation in the populations studied.
Nose bridge breadth association
Explore a marker associated with nose bridge breadth in the studied populations.
Earlobe attachment association
A studied association with how the earlobe joins the side of the face.
Go further with your curiosity.
Every DNA Traits report includes these topics too. How many cards are interpretable depends on the markers in your DNA file.

Your DNA, explained
Bring your DNA
Upload your testing company’s original raw export, or choose an eligible file already on your account.
We check the markers
Your file is checked before your report starts. Missing or inconsistent markers are clearly identified in the report.
Make your own discoveries
Open your private report: at each marker, which of the three genotypes is yours, how common it is around the world, and the research behind it.
Curiosity, with context.
Every card connects a marker reported in your file to published research, including the studied population, how common each genotype is and the limits of that association.
A published association describes a result in a study population, and a percentage says how common a genotype is in a group of people, never your chance of having a trait. Neither establishes your trait or a cause. This service has no validated individual trait prediction model; other genes, your environment and your experiences also matter.

Questions
Do I need an ancestry report first?
No. DNA Traits is a standalone product with its own order and report.
What does the free report include?
229 cards across all 11 topics: appearance, senses, everyday biology, reproductive biology, nutrition & metabolism, sleep & rhythms, body & performance, skin & sun, immune biology, heart & circulation and mind & behaviour. A few cards come from research done only in women or only in men, and your report holds the ones for the gender you enter. It is free once per account, with nothing to pay and no add-ons, and your analysis starts as soon as you ask.
Why only once per account?
Each account gets one free DNA Traits report, for the DNA file you choose. A relative who wants a report of their own can request it from their own account.
Which DNA files can I use?
Use an original raw array export from your testing company: .txt, .csv, .zip or .gz. Sequencing VCF files are not currently supported for this product. We check that there are enough usable trait markers before your report starts.
Will every trait be available?
Availability depends on your testing company’s markers. Missing markers, no-calls and inconsistent genotypes are clearly marked as unavailable.
Does this measure my fertility or hormone levels?
Reproductive biology cards show research associations in the studied sexes and populations. They do not measure current hormone levels, provide a fertility score or predict whether you can conceive.
Does this predict my traits?
We show genotypes reported in your file alongside published research associations, with how common each genotype is in the 1000 Genomes Project. A percentage describes how common a genotype is in a group of people, never your chance of having a trait. The service has no validated individual trait prediction model and does not measure your traits; other genes, your environment and the populations studied affect interpretation.
