Calcium concentration association
The blood level of calcium.

What the research found
In the cited research, the T allele at rs1801725 was associated with higher albumin-adjusted serum calcium concentrations in the studied cohorts.

What the study found
In the study, each copy went with albumin-adjusted serum calcium about 0.02 mmol/L higher on average.
- Evidence
- Genome-wide association with independent replication
- Who was studied
- European and Indian Asian discovery cohorts with Icelandic replication

- G and T, with T as the studied allele
A DNA Traits report reads this marker in your raw DNA file and shows which of the three genotypes is yours, with how common it is. It counts the copies of the studied allele; it does not measure the trait itself.

What it cannot tell you
Serum calcium is tightly regulated. This association does not measure calcium intake, calcium absorption or bone strength, and it is not a test for a calcium-regulation disorder. Only the studied G/T allele pair is interpreted. It cannot tell you a current calcium level, is not a test for deficiency and cannot choose a diet, supplement or dose.
